Choose the format that matches the destination
JPG is practical for photographs and does not support transparency. PNG preserves sharp graphics and transparency but may be larger. WebP often balances image quality, transparency, and file size for modern websites.
Image Format Converter FAQs
Which conversions are supported?
You can convert JPG, PNG, or WebP input into JPG, PNG, or WebP output. This covers JPG to PNG, PNG to JPG, JPG or PNG to WebP, and WebP to JPG or PNG.
What happens to transparent backgrounds?
PNG and WebP can preserve transparency. JPG cannot, so transparent pixels are filled with your selected background color.
Why can the converted file be larger?
Formats encode images differently. Converting a compressed photograph to PNG, using a high quality setting, or preserving transparency can increase file size.
Are the original dimensions retained?
Yes. This tool changes the file format without resizing the image. Use Image Resizer when you need different pixel dimensions.
What happens to EXIF metadata and animation?
Source metadata is not copied. Animated WebP input is converted as a single still image using the frame decoded by the browser.
Are my files uploaded or stored?
No. Conversion happens locally in your browser, and the files disappear when you clear the page or close it.
