Stress-test withdrawals before relying on them
A small change in return, withdrawal timing, or annual increase can materially change how long an investment lasts. Compare several conservative scenarios before acting.
SWP Calculator FAQs
What is an SWP?
A systematic withdrawal plan allows money to be withdrawn from an investment at regular intervals.
Why does withdrawal timing matter?
A beginning-of-period withdrawal leaves less money invested for that period. An end-of-period withdrawal allows the balance to earn the estimated return first.
What does the exhaustion warning mean?
It means the simulated balance reaches zero before the selected duration ends, so later requested withdrawals may not be fully funded.
What is the sustainable withdrawal estimate?
It is the approximate highest regular withdrawal that the entered assumptions can fully fund for the selected duration. It is not a safe-withdrawal recommendation.
Can withdrawals increase each year?
Yes. Choose a percentage or fixed annual increase to model rising income needs.
Does this include tax, fees, or market volatility?
No. The calculator uses a constant expected return and excludes taxes, fees, exit loads, and irregular market movements.
