How the estimate is calculated
The Mifflin-St Jeor equation predicts resting energy expenditure and is commonly presented as a BMR estimate. TDEE multiplies it by the selected conventional activity factor. Pregnancy, breastfeeding, growth, illness, medication, body composition, and unusual activity can make the estimate unsuitable.

FAQs
What formula does this calculator use?
It uses the adult Mifflin-St Jeor resting-energy equation and multiplies the estimate by the selected activity factor.
What is the difference between BMR and TDEE?
BMR estimates resting energy needs, while TDEE adds an activity estimate for daily maintenance calories.
Is this result medical or nutrition advice?
No. It is a general adult estimate, and individual needs can differ substantially.
How should I choose an activity level?
Use the description that most closely matches your usual weekly exercise and work activity, knowing that the categories are approximate.
What happens to my health inputs when I leave?
Your age, formula choice, height, weight, activity, and results are available only during the current browser session.
